Mount of Glory

The Mount of Glory is a memorial dedicated to one of the military actions in Belarus. In July 1944, near Minsk, where the memorial complex is now located, the largest offensive operation called «Bagration» was taken place.

In honor of famous victory the monument was erected. Its creation began in 1967. The total height of the memorial is 70.6 meters. The 35 meters high earthen hill is crowned with a sculptural composition of four bayonets, symbolizing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Belarusian and 1st Baltic fronts that liberated Belarus.

The Mount of Glory became a great architectual site and k spawned a whole wave of imitations across all the USSR.
