Berezinsky Reserve was founded in 1925 to protect and breed rare species of animals that are listed in the National Red Book. Now it is included in the World UNESCO Program.
Due to its biological diversity and uniqueness of natural complexes, the reserve is of exceptional importance for the whole of Europe. The total area is 85.2 thousand hectares. Forests here occupy about 89% of the reserve. The flora of the reserve contains more than 50% of the Belarusian flora, there are 59 species of mammals living here.

The ancient burial mounds, the Berezinsky water system, the battle sites of the Patriotic War of 1812 belong to the historical sights of the reserve.
