Independence Avenue (Belor. Prospect Nezalezhnastsi) is the main thoroughfare of Minsk, crossing it from the center to the northeast. The length of the avenue is about 15 km.
The ensemble of Independence Avenue was created during the post-war reconstruction of Minsk, destroyed during the Great Patriotic War.
The most valuable is the central part of the avenue, which was built in the 1940-1960s in the style of «Stalin’s Empire». All buildings are part of a harmonious architectural ensemble, which claims to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
