The church of St. Simeon and St. Helena is the most famous Catholic church in Minsk. The magnificent church was built of red brick, which gave it the second name – the Red Church. On September 25, 1906, the cornerstone of the future church was solemnly consecrated.
The construction was led by Minsk nobleman Edward Voinilovich, he also donated a large sum for the construction of the temple. The architect of the project was Polish citizen – Tomasz Payzdersky. The church received the names of saints Simeon and Helena in memory of two early dead children of Voinilovich.
In 1996, a sculpture of the Archangel Michael piercing a serpent was installed near the church. In 2000, a monument to the Nagasaki Bell was erected in memory of the tragedy in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
