Blessed Virgin Assumption Church

Blessed Virgin Assumption Church

Blessed Virgin Assumption Church in Sarya was built in 1851-1857. It is one of the most expressive neo-gothic temples in Belarus built of red brick. The building was created as Catholic church, but now it is transferred to Orthodox Church.

It was built by an inconsolable widower Lopatinsky – an offspring of a rich gentry family, in memory of his beloved wife, who died suddenly during childbirth.
