Located on the high bank of the Neman, Grodno Drama Theater is one of the symbols of the city, often depicted on postcards and souvenirs.
The theater was formed in 1947. In 1984 a new building (architect G. Machulsky) was built of brick and precast: an auditorium with an amphitheater and a balcony for 700 seats, a lobby and an administrative building with a small auditorium for 216 seats on ground floor.
At the entrance to the theater you can see a three-figured sculptural composition made by sculptor L. Zilber. In 2011, the theater was awarded the title “Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus” for achievements in the field of theatrical art and development of national culture.
The theater often travels across Europe, USA and Asia becoming the winner of various theater festivals and competitions.
