St. Michael the Archangel Church (St. Michael’s Church) is the largest defense-type church in Belarus, as well as one of the earliest Gothic Orthodox churches in Western Europe. As for the style, it resembles the old Russian four-column cross-domed churches.
The volume-spatial structure is of a different nature – it is a three-nave four-pillar basilica with a renaissance facade gable. Recent restoration work has shown that the building dates back to 1320. The church is currently under reconsctuction.
